Lena Aburdene is a psychotherapist who works with individuals, couples and groups and believes that compassion and acceptance are two of the most important aspects of the therapeutic relationship and are the foundation of healing. Her approach is integrative. No two people are alike and Lena honors this when developing a plan for the course of therapy.
Lena also focuses on positive growth and change with her clients through problem solving/solution oriented techniques and cognitive behavioral therapy. Some of the issues Lena works with are:

Quarter Life Crisis Plus 10: For singles in their 20s and 30s who want to explore issues related to career, identity, relationships, spirituality, and more.
Single in the City: A therapy group for DC women in their mid-20s to late-30s who want to discuss dating, relationships and life issues with other women in a supportive, open, and confidential setting.
Imago Couples Counseling:
Lena also completed her 96 hour training as an Imago Relationship Therapist and works with couples on a variety of issues, especially those couples that are overwhelmed with life and want to work on deepening connection and strengthening communication.
Education and Experience:
Lena has a Masters in Pastoral Counseling from Loyola College and a Masters in Communications from Fordham University. She has worked as a counselor at Anchor Mental Health, St Agnes Hospital and the Center of Pastoral Counseling of Virginia before joining The Imago Center. She has also worked in patient services at Sloan Kettering Memorial Cancer Center and Johns Hopkins Hospital. She currently writes a column for the online Washington DC Examiner on Feminism and Relationships that explores many of the issues that come up for her clients and blogs on meaning and purpose for the popular Washington DC blog, Pamela's Punch
