Friend Us on Facebook

To start the New Year, I’d like to invite you to get connected with us on Facebook.

My colleagues at PC&CC/The Imago Center and I have had many occasions when clients wanted to “friend” us on Facebook. There has been a lot of debate in the mental health field about this, and the overwhelming opinion has been that it’s not a good thing for therapists to be friends with their clients online. That’s where Facebook’s “professional pages” come into play.

With our Facebook page, you can connect with us online, but all your personal information (remember those embarrassing pictures from your high school reunion) automatically stays private. Basically, you cannot see any of our personal stuff and we cannot see yours. We think you’ll like it that way.

Take a minute and check us out: http://www.facebook.com/ImagoCenterDC

You’ll see that we’re posting lots of good links to articles, blogs, book reviews, and event announcements on our Wall. If you click the “Like” button (which we’d greatly appreciate), these valuable resources will appear in your newsfeed. Here’s a list of a few recent posts that might interest you:

  • Should You Cheat to Save Your Marriage?
  • Review of “Committed”
  • Handling Depression at Work
  • Handling Children’s Emotions by Being Transparent
  • Would you buy divorce insurance?

There have been many times where one of my clients has come into a session saying, “I saw your post about… and it made me think…” Our hope it that connecting with us on Facebook will enrich your online experience with relevant content that’s interesting, fun, and thought-provoking.
